Playtesting & CSS

Playtest your in-progress games

Meet with 2 partners to review in-progress games. Have something to take notes with.

After you play, write these things down and discuss with the designer:

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for Ink

CSS is the language used to style HTML documents in a web browser. It can be used to change the appearance of your web exported projects created with Ink.

Editing CSS

You can use a basic text editor like Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on Mac, but you might find it more enjoyable to use something more powerful like Visual Studio Code.

CSS cheatsheet

CSS is exhaustively documented online. Some notes specific to our needs with Ink are available here

Some Things to Look Out For!

Work session

Get some work done this evening. The goal is to have a completed version that can be uploaded to itch.io at the start of class after the Fall Break.

Homework

Project 1: Interactive Fiction (Phase 3)

Project Description

Create a short interactive fiction (IF) game that can be completed in 10–15 minutes and features no more than three significant endings. You may build a text-only experience or incorporate images and/or sound.

Completed game due after Fall Break (10/21)

Full project description here.

Outside-of-class Playtesting

Find at least one person to play your game before class next week. What did they think?
